Colin’s 6th Birthday

I had the pleasure of making Colin’s 6th birthday cake last week. Baseball theme…right up my alley! I also made cupcakes for his class and designed a topper for the cupcakes to match the baseball theme.

Here’s what his mom Tracy had to say:

Let’s just say, your cake and cupcakes were an absolute hit in Colin’s Kindergarten class as well as his party at home. Colin absolutely loved his baseball cake. For the first time in a while, I got to see the kid in my husband……I wish I had the video recorder on when he came home and saw Colin’s cake…..my husband’s exact words were “That’s an awesome cake!”

As for the taste of your cake, it was absolutely delicious. Everyone couldn’t stop talking about how good the peanut butter buttercream icing tasted, it was so smooth and silky. You did an incredible job on both the cupcakes and cake.

Thanks again for making my sons 6th birthday a very special day to remember.

Ashley & Christopher’s Wedding

Yesterday, I had the honor of making Ashley and Christopher’s wedding cake. This is one of my favorite designs. I just love the delicate flowers on the cake. The buttercream covered cake was spice cake with caramel buttercream filling and white cake with lemon buttercream filling. The vintage cake plate was provided by Ashley’s grandmother…what a lovely touch. The wedding and reception were held at the Berry Patch Bed and Breakfast in Lebanon, PA.

Alyssa & Spencer’s Wedding

I’ve been waiting for this wedding for many months. Alyssa is so much fun and just stunning. She envisioned bright orange and fuschia filling the courtyard at the Eden Resort in Lancaster. She knew she wanted a bright orange cake with fuschia accents inspired by the colors and swirl design from her wedding invitation. I was very excited for the challenge 🙂

I absolutely love how this 150 serving 4 tier cake turned out. The cake flavors were white cake with raspberry buttercream filling, chocolate cake with peanut butter and chocolate ganache filling, coconut cake with vanilla coconut buttercream filling and chocolate cake with oreo buttercream filling. It was a big cake! I designed a rhinestone trimmed cake base to compliment the cake.

Alyssa looked stunning! Her beautiful make-up was done by the super talented Carmina Cristina.

Hand written escort cards with jewel accent looked amazing.

Beautiful florals by Alyssa’s friend Kelly Arnano.

Spencer checking out his groom’s cake.

The cake was blue velvet with vanilla buttercream filling.

Mike with Mixed-up Productions kept the music going!

Jonnaysa and Diana with Planned Perfection coordinated the day.

Thanks so much Alyssa and Spencer for letting me be a part of your amazing day!

Cake Decorating & Spa Party

Last Saturday I had the pleasure of doing a cake decorating party for an adorable young lady who turned 6. The party was at the Polished Day Spa in Lemoyne. Why at a day spa? In addition to the cake decorating, they all got mani and pedis…how nice!

I did a mini dessert table and cake for the party too. Chocolate dipped marshmallows, cupcakes, chocolate dipped pretzels and popcorn for the girls.

Custom water bottles to go with the spa & princess theme.

All the girls decorated their own crowns and necklaces before frosting and decorating their cakes.

So much fun working with fondant! Just like Play Dough…

It was a blast! We all had fun.

Polished Day Spa is the perfect place for your next girl night out and a great place for all your pre-wedding pampering. Make sure you check them out and their new hair cutting and styling services.

Kathy & Harry’s Wedding at the Cork Factory Hotel

When I met with Kathy and Harry at our initial consultation, they said they wanted a cupcake tower displayed with nature and trees incorporated into the presentation. I thought putting the tower on a real tree stump would be the perfect way to tie their desired look into the cupcake tower display and I love how it looked. Leah McMaster with Fashionable Affairs, who did the coordination, went on a hunt and found the perfect tree!

Flowers on the cupcakes were dark green, light green, dark brown and light brown to coordinate with the colors of nature.

The moss draping over the edge of the tree stump was especially beautiful.

Fresh spider mums adorned the cake topper. So pretty.

I found this beautiful wooden frame which complemented the whole look of the reception. The cupcake flavors were lemon drop (white cake filled with fresh lemon curd and topped with vanilla buttercream frosting), red velvet with honey cream cheese frosting, carrot cake with honey cream cheese frosting and chocolate cake filled with chocolate ganache and topped with chocolate buttercream frosting.

The wedding and reception were held at the elegant Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster PA. Newly restored, historic and just a beautiful venue.

Beautiful wooden table number engravings done by Kathy’s daughter.

Gorgeous florals by All Things Beautiful.

Allison Heyden Runway Show & Carmina Cristina Debut

This past Friday night was the Allison Heyden runway show and debut of Make-up artist Carmina Cristina. Allison was recently featured in an article in the Patriot News and premiered her new collection at Level 2 in Harrisburg. She currently lives in New York City and has been featured in Teen Vogue, CNN and more. I was so excited when I was invited by Carmina to participate in the show. Allison’s first collection was inspired by cupcakes, so it was perfect to do a designer cupcake display for her show. If you haven’t been to Level 2, I felt like I was in Los Angeles or New York City…very nice! Be sure to check out Allison and Carmina’s website to see their amazing work. The fantastic hair design was done by the staff at Outlooks for Hair in Harrisburg.

Mini cupcake display with coordinating decorations to tie in with Allison Heyden’s dress collection.

I took fabric samples she gave me and I displayed then in tall cylinder jars with her logo.

Allison Heyden...talented and adorable!

Carmina Cristina on the left did the couture feather lashes and make-up design. She has done make-up for New York Couture Week and lives here in Harrisburg. She does amazing bridal make-up and is so creative and talented. Be sure to check out her website.

Here are just a few of my favorite dresses and make-up.

Dessert Table Design for The JDK Group

I was invited by The JDK Group today to do a presentation on my business The Couture Cakery. The JDK Group is the areas premier caterer and also has an amazing event rental subsidiary called Essential Party Rentals and has just launched a wedding coordination service, called Weddings by JDK.

This was the perfect chance for me to channel the mega-talented Amy Atlas (NY dessert table designer) into me. I wanted to do something amazing to showcase not only my cake and cupcake designs, but also my love for dessert table design. I used the colors from their logo for inspiration. The contrast of the black damask print with the raspberry and apple green colors were perfect.

In addition to the wedding cake design, I also created gourmet cupcakes which included dark chocolate cupcakes filled with chocolate ganache and topped with Oreo, raspberry Chambord and peanut butter buttercream frostings. Other selections included Lemon Drop (white cake filled with fresh lemon curd and topped with vanilla buttercream frosting), red velvet with honey cream cheese frosting and mini carrot cake cupcakes with honey cream cheese frosting and mini Nutty Monkey cupcakes (banana cupcake with peanut butter buttercream frosting).

I also designed custom wrappers for Hershey bars and Hershey Nuggets and made my favorite French Macaroon cookies (so yummy), plus marshmallow pops dipped in white chocolate. I love working with amazingly talented people and my friend Kim who owns Edible Art created the beautiful dress and logo cookies. In addition, Kim who owns Sweeties made her beautiful white chocolate dipped Oreos with a designer print.

The incredible photos were taken by Thomas Beaman, who is a fantastic wedding, portrait and event photographer. I appreciate him taking the time to make the photos so artful. It’s great sharing a studio space with someone so gifted.

Amazing work comes together when you collaborate with talented, hard-working and creative people. I’m so excited about what the future brings.

Did I tell you I love what I do 🙂
