Meera & Rupen’s Stunning Indian Wedding

It was such an amazing experience being a part of Meera and Rupen’s wedding this past Saturday. From our initial meeting, I knew it was going to a spectacular event and it certainly was. The wedding encompassed three days filled with traditions, rituals, vibrant colors and celebration. Meera and Rupen had their traditional Indian wedding ceremony and reception at the Hershey Lodge with almost 400 guests in attendance from all over the country and around the world. The wedding was so rich in color and the evening was filled with sheer joy.

First of all, isn’t Meera just stunning? It took over five hours to have the henna or mehndi done on her hands and feet. The detail and artistry was incredible.

The mandap, the area where the wedding ceremony took place, was set up in one of the large ballrooms and was so beautiful. Red and gold were the featured colors which coordinated with Meera and Rupen’s wedding attire.

How cute is Meera!

After the wedding ceremony, Meera changed into a stunning fuschia saari. The cake was inspired by the design of her saari, including the pleating and design details.

The ceremony area was magically transformed into a beautiful area where the family and bridal party dined on traditional Indian food prepared by her cousins who are chef/owners of the Monsoon Group of restaurants in San Diego, CA in conjunction with the chefs from Passage to India. I have to say, the chocolate filled samosas with fresh whipping cream, prepared by her cousins was incredible. I can’t wait until I go to San Diego to eat at one of their restaurants 🙂

All of the photos above were taken by Merra and Rupen’s wedding photographer Photographick Studios’ from Washington DC. Thank you Sunny for sharing them with me.

The photos below were taken for me by Thomas Beaman with Thomas Beaman Photography.

The cake, inspired by Meera’s reception saari, also included bright sugar flowers including peony and roses I created. Quilting and stenciling were also incorporated. Some of the tiers were airbrushed gold for a little shimmer.

The cake flavors included chocolate cake with mocha buttercream filling, vanilla cake with raspberry buttercream filling and red velvet with vanilla buttercream filling.

In addition to the cake, I also created an 18 foot sweets table. Lots of candy incorporating the reception colors of fuschia, pink, gold and orange. I found beautiful pink and gold saari fabric which I wrapped around cubes and used as part of the table decor and also used the fabric to create the base for the cake just to tie everything together.

There was a lot on candy!

Mini cupcakes in various flavors were also part on the sweets table.

Some of the candy selection included gold chocolate gems, pink rock candy sticks, pearl jaw breakers, lemon drops, mini Swedish fish and much more.

I really enjoyed seeing all the women in the most beautiful saaris. The DJ and music was amazing and it was so much fun seeing everyone, young and old, dancing and having so much fun…including me!

Congratulations Meera and Rupen. A spectacular wedding for a very special couple.

Breckin’s 6th Baseball Theme Birthday Cake

Breckin and his family are huge York Revolution baseball fans and his
mom wanted a baseball theme cake with Down Town the mascot on top for his 6th birthday.

Hot dogs, gloves, bats and baseballs also were part of the decorations.

The cake flavors were white cake with vanilla buttercream filling and chocolate
cake with vanilla buttercream filling.

Down Town is a furry guy…I think he may be a bird.

When I was in New York for Martha Stewart’s Dreamers in to Doers event I met the incredibly talented Charynn who owns Two Sugar Babies. She makes the most adorable fondant toppers and I was so excited to have her make some custom cupcake toppers for Breckin’s school party.

Happy Birthday Breckin!

Jessica & Nick’s wedding at Box Hill Mansion

Jessica and Nick were married this past Friday at Box Hill Mansion at Regents’ Glen in York. It’s a beautiful venue and the weather was just perfect. The cake design was inspired by the rushing and designs from Jessica’s gown.

The swirl designs were accented with Swarovski crystals for a lot of sparkle. The cake flavors were vanilla cake with strawberry and raspberry buttercream fillings and chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and mocha buttercream fillings.

The invitations and coordinating table numbers were just gorgeous. They were designed by Persnickety Invitation Studio.

Jessica surprised Nick with a grooms cake. He’s a big Flyers fan.

Nick came home from him military service on the Middle East for the wedding and will be going back. I wish them both the very best in their new life together when he returns.

Jen & Adam’s Wedding at Riverdale Manor

Jen and Adam were married yesterday at Riverdale Manor in Lancaster. It was a beautiful day for a wedding. The cupcake tower incorporated their wedding colors of light pink, navy blue and grey. It was a gorgeous color combination.

Jen ordered the most adorable topper from Etsy. It even included their dog.
Adam is holding a heart with a “A&J” on it.

The cupcake flavors included Vanilla Vanilla, Chocolate Oreo and Lemon Drop.

All of the bouquets and centerpieces included gorgeous peony blossoms. White hydrangea blossoms were also included in the centerpieces. Everything looked amazing. Each of the napkins had a menu insert which included a personalized name label for each guest. What a nice touch.

Jen looked stunning in her gown and veil and her bouquet was crazy beautiful.

Congratulations Jen and Adam!

600 Cupcakes!

This week I had the amazing opportunity to create a 600 cupcake display for an event at the Hershey Lodge. I seriously felt I was on Cupcake Wars when they have to put together the huge display at the end of the show.

Each of the cupcakes had a gourmet chocolate oval with “100 years” on them. They were delicious and created by Sweeties by Kim.

I wanted to have some beautiful florals and enlisted the help of Terri Maclay with Nature’s Harmony. They looked amazing!

Everything came together so well. I’m so thankful for my dear friends Carmina Cristina and Kim Barrett for their help too.

Chris & Katie’s wedding at the Hershey Lodge

I think Katie is the most enthusiastic bride I’ve had the pleasure of working with. She was so excited about the cake it made me smile each time I met with her. The wedding colors included a lime/avocado green and purples. She wanted a big cake for her 250 person reception at the Hershey Lodge.

Sugar flowers including peonies and purple blossoms accented the 5 tier cake. I also added edible sugar diamonds for a bit of bling. The cake flavors were chocolate cake with chocolate ganache and mocha buttercream filling and vanilla cake with raspberry buttercream filling.

The florals were designed by Blue Heron. They do some amazing work.

I loved creating this cake. It was so much fun!

Special thanks to photographer Jen Baltgalvis for taking the photos.

Anna & Matthew’s Wedding at the Hershey Lodge

This past Saturday I had the honor of creating Anna and Matthew’s wedding cake
for their reception at the beautiful Hershey Lodge.

The inspiration for the cake design was their simply elegant wedding invitation.

I love the brown and lime green together.

The cake flavors were vanilla cake with strawberry buttercream filling and
red velvet cake with honey cream cheese filling.

The photos above were taken by the incredibly talented Jen Baltgalvis who photographed
the wedding. Florals were designed by Hammaker’s Flower Shop.

Congratulations Anna and Matthew!

Aloha Sweet 16 Cupcake Tower

This past Saturday I had a blast putting this cupcake tower together for a surprise sweet 16 party.
Kirstin’s mom emailed me a copy of the napkin which had hibiscus flowers and a tropical look and color swatches to match. She wanted 3 small cakes in addition to the cupcakes for the party.

The cupcake flowers were pink, lime green, blue and purple. The flavors were vanilla with vanilla frosting, vanilla with strawberry frosting, chocolate with vanilla frosting and chocolate with chocolate frosting.

Happy birthday!!
