Erin’s Baby Shower

I’m so excited to share Erin’s baby shower sweets table and cake. I had the honor of creating Erin’s wedding cake and cupcakes over two years ago. It doesn’t seem that long ago, and now she and Mark are having a baby! Erin is one of those special brides who will always be very special to me, so I was thrilled when her mom called to ask me to do something special for her baby shower. The look was vintage/shabby chic with lots of ruffles and pink.

Lots of delicate fondant ruffles created this girly and frilly cake. The cake flavors were vanilla
cake with strawberry buttercream filling and red velvet with honey cream cheese filling.

 
The shower took place at Festivities off Bridge in New Cumberland and the cake was part 
of this vintage sweets table.

Erin is now gluten free(GF) so I made a chocolate GF cake with peanut butter buttercream 
filling for her to enjoy. Erin was kind enough to be a guinea pig for me when I was 
testing GF recipes 🙂 To tie in the vintage theme my mom (who happened to be in town) 
knitted adorable rosette decorations.
I also made French Macarons…yummy and gluten free!
Some delicate flowers in pretty vases added to the vintage flavor.

 My mom made a cute bunting out of a pillow case. We added the trim and knit rosettes (which I just loved) and I painted the lettering on them. The final touch was the shimmery chic burlapy linen from Special Occasions.
I also made mini butter cookies.

I found some great handkerchiefs on my last antique store shopping spree which worked
perfect with the table design. (Sorry…not sure what is up with the spacing.)

Reagan’s Princess and Pirates Birthday Cake

 
My adorable niece Reagan celebrated her 4th birthday with a princess and pirates theme. It was a challenge trying to combine the two themes together and create a cohesive look…but I think the cake turned out just right 🙂


 
I didn’t get a photo of the birthday girl in her princess dress, but I did get her mom in hers!

Blast Off!! Blake is 5.

My little guy Blake just turned 5 and we celebrated his birthday with an outer space theme this year. I incorporated grey, orange, lime green and blue as the primary colors for the dessert table. Lots of easy details you can do yourself.

I designed the invitation above. Custom printables for this collection are available at my Etsy Shop.
The cake was inspired by the invitation. You can easily create this cake using cookie cutters and colored fondant to create the shapes.
 
 You can emboss the age on fondant using a rubber letter stamp that you can purchase at your local craft store.
I found green and orange sixlets at Party City.
The Booster Fuel capsules are mini push pop containers from Shop Sweet Lulu and I just filled them with M&Ms. The filler in the jar are silver jaw breakers. For lots of fun and creative ideas for push-up pops, be sure to pick up a copy of my friend Courtney Dial’s new book Push-Up Pops.
The Planet Pops are red velvet cake pops dipped in orange candy melts. You can find Bakerella’s recipe here.
The space shuttle, astronaut and planet stick candies are from Oriental Trading. I also purchased the favors there including outer space sticker set, note pads, pencils and foamy stickers. The candy are placed in plastic cylinder cups filled with silver jaw breakers.
I created custom candy bar wrappers which would work great around granola bars or any cereal bar treat instead of candy.
Sugar rocket cookies embossed with a “5” and “B” coordinate with the party invitation.

 The cupcake toppers included a silver sticky dot which I purchased from the local craft shop.
I also found the tissue paper decorations at Party City. They were very inexpensive and looked great.
I’m always looking for ways to fill larger jars with inexpensive filler. I used Trix cereal for my Space Rocks.
Customized Hershey Kisses.
A plain goodie bag with a custom thank you tag.
Marshmallow pops.
I made the Meteoroids by placing a candy melt on a small round pretzel and topping it with a silver sixlet candy. Just put the candy melt on the pretzel and place it in the over for couple of minutes…let it melt a bit them place the sixlet on top after you take it out of the oven. These can be flying saucers or spaceships too.
Moon Rocks are Cookie Crisp cereal. You can fill a large container for just a few dollars.
Chocolate dipped pretzel sticks with orange sprinkles.
Mini water bottles with a custom alien wrapper. Straw from Shop Sweet Lulu.

Patrick’s Eagle Scout Court of Honor

I am a bit late posting this, but I was so honored to be asked to create a cupcake tower and candy display for Patrick’s Eagle Scout court of honors celebration. Becoming an Eagle Scout is quite an accomplishment. It takes many years of dedication and work to acquire all the badges and completing the Eagle Scout project.

The red, white and blue color scheme tied in the celebration color.
 
A fondant eagle topped the cake.

The fleur de lis is the boy scout symbol and topped each cupcake.

Lots of yummy candy for the kids to enjoy!

Nicole and Owen’s stunning winter wedding


I’m so excited to share this amazing wedding with you! When I met with Nicole and Owen for the first time, I was kind of jumping out of my seat a little because Nicole had such creative ideas for her wedding, many of which she did herself. The wedding and reception took place at the beautiful Cork Factory Hotel in Lancaster. I created a sweets table which incorporated a bit of a winter theme and colors including silver, navy blue, chartreuse. I was extra excited when I found Rita and Joel Wieber were shooting the wedding and they kindly provided the images below for me to share.

Nicole decided to serve cupcakes to her guests along with lots of sweets for them to 
enjoy and take home.
I loved the “Save the Dates” she created herself. Just one of the many wonderful DIY items!


Nicole looked amazing…and yes it did happen to snow on their wedding day. 
It was the perfect backdrop for this stunning photo.
Here’s the final result.
Snowflake sugar cookies went perfectly with the snowy day.
Nicole used beautiful paper throughout the wedding decor and I incorporated the 
paper design on to the candy tags. 
White chocolate dipped pretzels, red velvet cake pops and marshmallow pops 
were some of the goodies I made.
Puppy chow was a special request by the bride.
Nicole loves butter cookies, so I made mini cookies that were displayed in paper cones I created with  the paper she provided. I used some of my vintage boxes to display the treats too.
 
 The Wiebners are true artists and I am a huge fan of their work.
Here is just one of my favorite shots…just beautiful. The flower girl was just adorable.
She work white Chuck Taylors covered with rhinestones…so cute!

Lori Witmer with Wildflowers by Design did the stunning florals. She also did some amazing centerpieces using baby’s breath, cotton, wood and milk glass painted black as vessels.

 Nicole created these paper ornaments as favors for the guests.
Another wonderful DIY and personal touch.

It was honestly an honor being a part of Nicole and Owen’s wedding.

Nicole’s Wintery Baby Shower Sweets Table

Nicole is having a baby! A winter theme was perfect for today, especially with the snow 🙂 Navy, light blue, silver and a little sparkle.
 Blingy cake stands.


Snowflake shaped yogurt covered pretzels, silver sixlets, white whirley pops and non pareils
were just a few of the treats.
 
Chocolate cupcake and red velvet cupcakes were decorated with edible snowflakes.

White chocolate dipped pretzel sticks.
 
Cookies and cream Hershey kisses incorporated the light blue just for a baby boy.
Red velvet cake pops sprinkled with shimmery sprinkles.
