Day of Pampering Event

My friend Lisa Wickenheiser invited me to participate in a wonderful event she organized at her church today. Her idea was to have a “Day of Pampering” for caregivers who spend their lives caring for others. The ladies who attended received manis and pedis, massages, had their hair done, shared in fellowship and enjoyed a wonderful tea room filled with beautiful china and lots of tasty desserts. I had so much fun creating a dessert table incorporating the color theme of pink, green and white. It was so nice to be a part of such a great event. As I was cleaning up, a sweet lady thanked me for the cupcakes and showed me her manicure and her perfectly coiffed hair. She said she was 80 years old and no one had ever done anything like this for her in her life. She was just so happy and thankful. The little things you do can mean so much to others. What a great day 🙂

New Consultation Studio…yippee!

So here is my new consultation space I will be sharing with photographer Thomas Beaman. We started painting today and things are looking pretty good. We choose a palette of white, lavendar, espresso and silver to complement his wonderful photography and also to showcase my cakes. The 1st photo is of the front door, 2nd photo is the entry room and the doorway goes to another small room. Can’t wait to get the hardwood flooring in and the trim painted. I’ll post more photos soon. We hope to be open for consultations around March 1st. So excited!

Our address is:
2209 Market Street, Camp Hill 17011

Terra’s Baby Shower

Here are some pics from the baby shower cupcake tower & dessert table I did for baby Tyson’s mommy’s shower. Cupcakes, marshmallow pops, chocolate dipped pretzels, muddy buddy mix and cookies were all included on the table. Onesies were the theme, so I created a mini clothes line with onesies clipped on spelling out “Baby Tyson” all coordinating with the invitation I designed.

Fashionista Birthday Cake

I got a call last week requesting a special birthday cake incorporating a leopard print…something fashion forward with lots of sparkle and glamour. The cake is dark chocolate with a layer of chocolate ganache and also a layer of raspberry Chambord buttercream (yes it has liquor in it and is SUPER yummy). The leopard print has 24 gold painted in each black spots and Swarovski crystals are on the black bands. It’s hard to see but there is also edible glitter sprinkled on the cake too. This was fun!

This Sunday I will be exhibiting at the bridal show at the Antique Auto Museum in Hershey. If you haven’t selected all your vendors, there will be a lot of great wedding professionals there. Cakes for every table

This summer I am doing a wedding where Lauren, the bride, has decided to have individual cakes at every table as the centerpiece. There are going to be 5-6 different cake designs and 20+ cakes to coordinate with her fuchia and lime green colors. I am sooo excited…I’ve been waiting for a bride to do this styling. I know it’s going to be amazing! I made these for her as a sample…just one of the looks.

Nicole’s Birthday Cake

Nicole flew all the way from CA to PA for a big birthday party she planned for herself tonight. However, with the huge snowstorm it had to be canceled. I had plans of creating a full dessert & cake table for her, but with the cancellation I just made the cake I was planning to make for the party. The cake is designed to match her invitation. The cake flavor was red velvet with lemon buttercream filling. At first I thought it was an interesting combination, but it is soooo good! Happy birthday Nicole!

Damask Wedding Cake

I just love this cake design. I used a stencil designed just for cakes which is featured in Martha Stewart Weddings. The design is applied with black royal icing on a white fondant cake. I added a rhinestone band around each tier for a little bling. I am very excited that I will be making a cake similar to this one and a dessert table for Michael Cox who plays for the Kansas City Chief’s and his beautiful fiance Dana this summer. Can’t wait!

By the way, my new business name is The Couture Cakery. If you haven’t heard why I had to change the name, here’s what happened. I received a letter last week from a cupcake business in California called SPRINKLES saying I could not use the word “Sprinkles” in my business name because I sold cupcakes and having my name would confuse people. They have federally trademarked the word SPRINKLES and they are attempting to stop any baking business who uses the word in their business name.
